Heartland Siberians
Deb Captain
Wisconsin, USA

Our history in Siberians began about 20 years ago with the purchase of a spirited red female, Sedona. Although, she was bought as our first “show” puppy, Sedona never gained a single point toward her championship. What she did bring to us was an education in Siberian antics that has been unsurpassed by the many dogs that have lived with us over the years. Sedona was the epitome of “Siberian-ism.” That is, intelligence and spirit with an innate ability to read “their human.” Clearly, this gal sealed our destiny of owning many more Siberians over the years. The saying “Siberians are like potato chips, you can't have just one” rings true for us!

After working with several “show puppy” breeders without success in the show ring, we were able to develop a relationship with two Siberian breeders. Julie Lamonska (Kansa Siberians) of Wisconsin who sold us Maggie. She became our first champion, first specialty win and our first top 25 ranked Siberian. Tom Oelschlager (Tommy O) and Marlene DePalma of Kontoki Kennels have been pivotal in our show ring success since the early 2000's. Kontoki has brought us many champions, several specialty wins and several top ranked Siberians. Proudly, all of our current dogs are from the Kontoki line.

Clearly, showing dogs is only a small part of owning these dogs. Their ability to become “family,” adding humor, companionship and love to our days is priceless.
